A Dutch Delft wet drug jar, De Porceleyne Bijl, circa 1740, the bulbous body inscribed in blue 'ROSAR:PALLIO' within an oval label surmounted by two cherubs flanking a basket of fruit above a winged mask, raised on a short stem and circular foot, blue painted mark to base, height 21cm (some chips), together with a smaller wet drug jar, De Porceleyne Claeuw, inscribed 'OXIMEL SIMPLEX', blue painted mark to base, height 17cm (restored). Note: the labels on these jars denote Syrup of Roses and Vinegar with Honey. Provenance: from the collection of the late Professor Maurice Stacey.
