A French faience commemorative plate, 19th century, of octagonal shape, painted in blue with a cockerel perched on a cannon beside a Phrygian or Liberty cap, within a floral border and scalloped rim, blue painted 'AR' mark to base for Meillonas, diameter 24.3cm. Provenance: from the collection of the late Professor Maurice Stacey.
