British or Irish School - an 18th century oval half-length portrait miniature of a gentleman, identified as Charles Bolton (1759-1788), watercolour on ivory, 7cm x 5cm, within a glazed gold mount, the reverse inset with hair, together with another 18th century portrait miniature, identified as 'Mrs Wallis (Mrs C Bolton's Mother)', watercolour on ivory, 6.5cm x 5cm, within a gold mounted frame, the reverse inset with a glazed panel of hair within a border of blue enamel. Provenance: family descent from Lieutenant-General Paul Anderson to the current vendor. Formerly at Grace Dieu, Waterford. Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item.
