Clocks and Barometers

An Edwardian inlaid mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement chiming on eight bells and striking on a gong, the brass breakarch dial with silvered 'Chime/Silent' indicator to arch above a silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and outer Arabic minutes, inscribed 'George Fox & Co Southport', framing a matt centre with silvered subsidiary seconds, all cornered with cast and pierced gilt mask and scroll spandrels, the hood with brass ball finial and swan neck pediment above a pair of Corinthian columns, glazed door and pierced fret panels to sides, the trunk with Corinthian corner columns flanking an arched door with finely inlaid urns, swags and arabesques, repeated on the base, raised on bracket feet, height 251cm, with pendulum, three weights and winder.

A George III mahogany stick barometer, the silvered rectangular dial with vernier scale, mercury thermometer and inscribed 'Somalvico Lione & Co 125 Holbn Hill London', the case with broken arch pediment and glazed door, the moulded trunk with inlaid chequer banding and visible mercury tube above a turned cistern cover, height 97.5cm (some faults).

A late 19th century ebonized and simulated walnut tableau comtoise wall clock with eight day movement striking on a gong, twice on the hour, the painted circular dial with Roman numerals and inscribed 'Casimir Payan Carcassone', the hinged and glazed front of shaped square outline enclosing a walnut surround with four ebonized panels with inlaid mother-of-pearl decoration, height 47cm, with pendulum and winding key.

A late 19th century French Egyptianesque slate mantel clock with eight day movement striking on a gong, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and inscribed 'Parkinson & Frodsham... London', the case decorated in iron red and gilt with birds, bird deity and serpents above the winged sun of Thebes motif, height 31.5cm, with pendulum.

A late Victorian brass skeleton clock with single fusee movement striking hours on a bell, the pierced silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals, the pierced frame with bell surmount, on an ebonized base, height 40cm, with winding key, pendulum and glass dome.

A Victorian lacquered brass skeleton clock timepiece with single fusee movement, the silvered skeletonized chapter ring with black Gothic Roman hour numerals above a silvered plaque, inscribed 'Evans & Sons Soho Clock Factory Birmingham', the three frames of arabesque scroll form, height 36cm, with compensated pendulum, winding key, white marble oval stand and glass dome. A late 19th century brass skeleton clock with single fusee movement striking on a bell, the silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and inscribed 'Thos Hammond Anglesea', the pierced frame surmounted by a bell, on a white marble base and rouge marble stand, height 42.5cm with pendulum.

A 19th century French giltwood framed oval wall barometer with central alcohol thermometer, the paper dial detailed 'Barometre Par Andrioly Rue Grenata No 28 Paris' to border, the giltwood frame with bead border and ribbon bow surmount, height 85cm (faults).

An early 20th century brass cased circular wall barometer, the dial detailed 'John Barker & Co Ltd Kensington', mounted on an oak backplate, diameter 28cm, together with a brass circular cased barometer, the silvered dial with mercury thermometer, diameter 13.5cm.

An Edwardian mahogany mantel clock with French eight day movement striking on a gong, the silvered circular dial with black Roman numerals, the dome top case with inlaid decoration, on a plinth base and brass bun feet, height 33.5cm, with pendulum.

A Regency brass inlaid mahogany bracket clock, the eight day twin fusee movement striking on a bell with pull repeat mechanism, the painted break arch dial with pastoral scene of shepherd and shepherdess to arch above black Roman numerals and inscribed 'J. Nicholas, Daventry', cornered with urn spandrels, the case with moulded arch pediment and brass pineapple finial, the sides with pierced gilt arched scale fret panels, the front with brass line and rosette inlaid decoration, on a plinth base and bun feet, height 56cm, the brass pendulum bob with engraved inscription 'Nicholas Fecit Daventry, 1817', with winder and case key. Note: John Nicholas was born in 1785 and is recorded as working in Daventry between 1805 and his death in 1860.

A 19th century French rosewood mantel clock, the eight day movement with silk suspension, striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the circular enamel dial with Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'Poton à Paris', surrounded by a cast brass foliate surround, the rectangular case and plinth base with brass line inlay, height 33.5cm, with pendulum.

A 19th century French rosewood portico clock with eight day movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the circular enamel dial with Roman numerals and inscribed 'Laine à Paris' within a cast brass surround above a cast brass pendulum, the surmount and rectangular plinth base with inlaid foliate decoration, united by four barley twist columns, height 52.3cm.

A late 19th century walnut cased Vienna style wall clock with eight day movement striking on a gong, the white enamel dial with Roman hour numerals and subsidiary seconds, the case with moulded arch pediment and serpentine shaped glazed door, height 108cm, with two weights and pendulum.

A mid-20th century oak longcase clock with eight day movement chiming on gongs, the dial with 'Tempus Fugit' boss to arch above silvered chapter ring, the moulded arch hood with glazed door, the trunk door with geometric mouldings, on a panelled base and bracket feet, height 169cm, with pendulum, winding key and two case keys.

A Regency brass inlaid ebonized case bracket clock with eight day twin fusee movement striking on a bell, the backplate engraved 'French, Royal Exchange, London', the similarly inscribed painted circular dial with black Roman hour numerals, the case with three brass ball finials above inlaid swags and line inlay to front, the sides with lion mask and loose ring handles above pierced arch fret panels, on a plinth base and turned ovoid feet, height 53.5cm, with pendulum and matching bracket (minor faults). Note: Santiago James Moore French was an eminent London clockmaker. He was made free of the Clockmakers Company in 1810 and is recorded as working at the Royal Exchange between 1808 and 1838.

An early 20th century German stained beech mantel clock with eight day movement chiming and striking on gongs with pull repeat mechanism, the square dial with Arabic numerals, the case with carved Art Nouveau scrolls and reeded columns, height 47cm, with pendulum.

A 19th century and later French rosewood portico mantel clock with eight day movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the circular enamel dial with Roman numerals within a cast ormolu surround, the ormolu pendulum with similar cast scroll decoration, the rectangular surmount and base with inlaid foliate scroll decoration, united by four line inlaid columns, height 50.5cm (restoration and alterations).

An Art Deco walnut cased mantel clock with chiming movement, the case with chrome mounts and Arabic numerals, height 21cm, with winding key.
