BRITAIN. Great Domesday Book. London: Alecto Historical Edition, 1986-1992. Penny edition, this being number 211 of 250 copies, 6 vols., folio (399 x 267mm.) Comprising all 413 folios of the Domesday book in colour facsimile. Original white goatskin-backed polished oak boards from Tattingstone Hall, Suffolk, with an original 1086 William the Conquerer coin inset into a plastic container inside the front cover of volume 1, alongside a specially minted penny coin from 1986, bound by A.W. Lumsden, Edinburgh, contained within brown half-morocco slipcases. Note: includes the 'Introduction' volume in brown half-morocco, a 'Prospectus' in publisher's wrappers, the 2 volume 'Translation' in brown-half morocco, and the 'Maps' and 'Indices' volumes in brown half-morocco solander boxes, the maps being 33 county maps on 28 folded sheets and the 'Indices' containing an index and fascicules for each county, along with the gazetteer.
