A group of ten rare Central Bank of Cyprus partial banknote progressive die proof engraver's test strikes for the obverse and reverse of a five hundred mils note, circa 1982, unusually in black, obverse with portrait vignette of a woman to right side, values in opposing corners, reverse with depiction of the Germasogeia dam, values in opposing corners, on oversized paper/card with near full-plate margins, detailed 'Cyprus 500 FT. 1981' to lower right margin edge (all extremely fine). Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
