A group of seven Grand-Duché de Luxembourg partial banknote progressive die proof engraver's test strikes for the obverse of a twenty francs note, circa 1955, comprising one in black/blue and six unusually in green with portrait vignette of Grand Duchess Charlotte to right side, values to opposing corners, showing partially printed to full-printed plate, on oversized paper/card, some colour bleed to paper (all extremely fine, some handling marks, two with slight tears to top left corners), together with two further cut portrait vignettes of Grand Duchess Charlotte. Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
