A group of five striking Grand-Duché de Luxembourg banknote progressive die proof engraver's test strikes for the obverse of a fifty francs note, circa 1972, each unusually in black with portrait vignette of Grand Duke Jean to left side, value to opposing corner, on oversized paper/card with near full-plate margins (all extremely fine). Provenance: from the personal archive of the late Alan Dow, master banknote engraver to Bradbury Wilkinson & Co and the Bank of England.
