A mid-18th century pinchbeck Admiral Vernon medal commemorating the attack and capture of Portobello 1739, obverse with Admiral Edward Vernon, Rear-Admiral Sir Chaloner Ogle and Brigadier-General Thomas Wentworth standing, two small lions at their feet, reverse with ships at the entrance of Portobello harbour, diameter 37mm (good/very fine, some patchy corrosion to surface, more noticeable on edges). Provenance: ex-Noonan's sale 14 November 2013, Lot 1307.
