A mid-18th century Admiral Vernon medal commemorating the attack and capture of Portobello 1739, obverse with Admiral Edward Vernon, Rear-Admiral Sir Chaloner Ogle and Brigadier-General Thomas Wentworth standing, two small lions at their feet, reverse with ships at the entrance of Portobello harbour, diameter 38mm (good/very fine, weak at points within striking). Provenance: ex-Baldwin's sale 28/9/14.
