A James II and Mary silver medal by George Bower commemorating a Spanish wreck recovered 1687, obverse with conjoined busts of James and Mary, reverse with ship on open sea with men in rowing boats fishing up treasure from a wreck, Eimer 285, diameter 54mm, weight 66.4g (extremely fine with lovely deep old cabinet tone), with an old ink-written collector's ticket detailed with purchase price 75/- and date 17.1.33. Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
