A rare late 17th century silver medal by George Bower, obverse with armoured and draped bust of James Duke of York, later James II of England, signed 'GB.F' below, reverse with draped bust of Mary of Modena, later Queen of England, dated 1680, diameter 52mm, weight 50.6g (very fine with even cabinet tone, some marks to fields, deeper mark to front of James' face). Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
