A large mid-17th century silver medal by J. Roettiers commemorating the Peace of Breda 1667, obverse with bust of Charles II facing right, reverse with Britannia seated on a rock facing left, looking out to a ship at sea and a fleet beyond, edge detailed 'Carolus Secundus pacis et imperii restitutor augustus', Eimer 241, diameter 56mm, weight 74.1g (extremely fine with even cabinet tone and much underlying lustre, small odd marks to fields). Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
