LOT 3170
A late 17th century silver medal by J. Roettiers, circa 1683, probably a laudatory medal or award for services, obverse with bust of Charles II facing right with long hair, armour and mantle, signed 'J.R.' on truncation, reverse with royal arms within garter, lion and unicorn supporters at the sides, lion, crown and plumes above, like Eimer 267, diameter 53mm, weight 65.3g (extremely fine with cabinet tone and reflective fields, no evidence of mounting which is usual for this type), with an old ink-written ticket and copy of original approval invoice from B.A. Seaby Ltd, dated 27th April 1946, for £2-10s. Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
