LOT 1703
A manganese powdered ground delft dish, Bristol or Wincanton, circa 1740, painted in blue with a building on the water's edge, the rim reserved with floral and foliate emblems, the rim underside with crosses and dashes, diameter 29cm, together with a Bristol delft dish, circa 1760-70, the scalloped edge rim painted with bianco-sopra-bianco decoration around a central blue painted view of two Chinese figures in a landscape, diameter 29cm, and a larger delft charger, painted in blue with a geometric design, diameter 35cm (faults and restoration to each). Provenance: from the private collection of David Armitage, former conservator to the Department of Eastern Art at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, between 1970 and 1999. The powdered ground dish previously part of the Anthony Belton Collection, sold by Dreweatt Neate, 13th and 14th October 1992.
