A Japanese Satsuma earthenware reticulated vase by Ryozan, Meiji period, of flattened circular form, one side pierced and moulded in relief with a ho-o bird against a ground of scrolling vapours, the other side with peony on a trellis ground, within borders of simulated brocade, all with painted and gilt decoration, the short narrow neck with incised keyfret band, iron red and gilt signature to base, height 15.5cm.
