LOT 1265
A 19th century oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 13-inch brass breakarch dial with engraved eagle and 'Tempus Fugit' banner to the arch above Roman hour numerals and subsidiary seconds, inscribed 'Clark Weymouth', cornered with thistle sprays, the hood with moulded arch pediment, glazed door and turned columns, the crossbanded arched trunk door above a crossbanded base and plinth, height 210cm, with pendulum and two weights (alterations and restoration). Note: Edwin J. Clark is a recorded Dorset clockmaker, born in 1801. He worked from St Mary Street, Melcombe Regis, Weymouth, from 1830 to 1853.
