A small pair of English Delft plates, London, probably Lambeth, circa 1760, both painted in blue with an Oriental landscape depicting a house and trees, within geometric borders and an ochre rim, diameter 18.3cm (fritted rim chips). Note: this pattern is illustrated by Michael Archer 'Delftware The Tin-Glazed Earthenware of the British Isles', page 229, B.247. Provenance: from the collection of the late Professor Maurice Stacey.
