An Italian Sicilian maiolica oviform jar, probably Palermo, 17th century, polychrome painted with a panel depicting the Greek goddess Daphne within a gadrooned cartouche against a patterned ground of masks, floral medallions and foliate scrolls, between bands of scrolling leaves, height 32cm (neck restored). Provenance: from the collection of the late Professor Maurice Stacey.
