Studio Pottery

A Josse Davis studio pottery model of a toucan, covered in a mottled turquoise glaze, height 5cm, together with a similar Josse Davis bird model, height 7.5cm, both with incised mark to base. Provenance: from the collection of the late Eric James Mellon, sold at Toovey's 22nd May 2014.

A Quentin Bell, Fulham Pottery circular plate, painted in red with two mermaids entwined with an octopus, against a blue ground, the rim with green and red panelling, incised marks to base, diameter 26.5cm.

A Quentin Bell, Fulham Pottery rectangular dish, painted and incised with a figure within a green edge rim, incised marks to base, length 24cm.

An Anthony Theakston studio pottery stoneware bird jug, covered in a blue speckled glaze, incised signature to base, height 15.5cm.

A Donald Glanville studio pottery stoneware vase, the half-glazed ovoid body decorated with opposing brown brushstrokes against a speckled ground, impressed seal mark, height 29.5cm, together with two stoneware wall plaques in the form of cats' heads and a similar dog example, height 12.5cm.

A set of three David Lloyd Jones studio pottery stacking bowls, each of flared circular shape with pouring lip, covered in tenmoku glaze with brushwork detail, diameters 26cm, 18.5cm and 15.5cm, together with a similarly glazed David Lloyd Jones circular bowl, diameter 13cm, each with impressed seal mark (largest bowl with hairline crack).

A Michael Casson studio pottery stoneware teapot and cover, covered in a speckled oatmeal glaze beneath the overhead bamboo handle, impressed seal mark, height including handle 22cm, together with a Newlyn Celtic Pottery Medallion coffee set for two, comprising tray, two mugs, jug, sugar bowl and coffee pot and cover.

A David Leach Lowerdown Pottery stoneware teapot and cover, painted to each side with a stylized foxglove against a grey ground, overhead bamboo swing handle, impressed seal mark to base edge, height including handle 18cm.

A Chelsea studio pottery model of an owl, mid-20th century, the naturalistic bird perched on a green glazed circular base, black printed factory mark, height 32cm, together with a studio pottery jar and cover with running streaked brown glaze, height 12cm, and a studio pottery plate, diameter 16.5cm.
