A Regency rosewood backgammon and chess sofa table, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, the reversible sliding top inlaid with a chess board within a border of gilt-tooled blue morocco leather, the interior with a velvet-lined backgammon board, each curved end with a hinged lid, the frieze with applied gilt metal anthemion escutcheons and six-point star handle plates within beaded borders, the twin pedestal end supports united by a shaped stretcher, terminating in gilt cast bronze scrolling claw feet and brass castors, height approx 73.5cm, length approx 139cm, depth approx 61.5cm.
