Silver and Plate

A small group of silver, comprising a set of six yellow enamelled bean end coffee spoons, Birmingham 1928, cased, another set of six coffee spoons, Birmingham 1964, cased, and two napkin rings, total weight 165.3g, together with a plated rectangular inkstand, the central lidded compartment surmounted by Cupid flanked by two green cut glass inkwells, with overall pierced decoration, on scroll feet, width 23cm (faults).

A pair of early 20th century French plated and clear glass claret jugs, each with fruiting vine capped hinged lid above foliate scrolls, flanked by a herm moulded scroll handle, each glass body of pear form, acid etched 'Cristallerie Lorraine France' mark to bases, heights 27.5cm.

A pair of George III silver circular salts, decorated in relief with flowers and leaves, raised on scroll legs, London 1772 by Ann Smith & Nathaniel Appleton, height 3.7cm, together with a silver mustard of urn form with domed hinged lid and scroll handle, on a circular foot, London 1798, height 12.3cm (lead weighted base), and a small group of other silver, total weight 390.6g.

A William IV silver Fiddle pattern caddy spoon, London 1830 by Benjamin Davis, length 9.5cm, a silver Fiddle pattern caddy spoon, London 1829, a George III silver caddy shovel, Birmingham 1802 by Joseph Taylor, length 13cm, and two other silver spoons, total weight 67.8g.

A small group of silver, including a ring tree, Birmingham 1911, weighable items 39.5g, and a .930 Norwegian silver gilt and pale blue enamelled circular salt by Marius Hammer, height 2.8cm, together with a group of plated items, including a WMF two-handled oval table centrepiece, relief decorated with flowers, fitted with a clear glass liner, and a pair of soup ladles.

A George V silver sauceboat with gadrooned rim and foliate capped flying scroll handle, raised on lion's mask shouldered scroll legs terminating in paw feet, Birmingham 1920 by James Woods & Sons, weight 206.1g, length 16.5cm.

A George III silver rectangular inkstand, the centre with cylindrical box surmounted with a detachable chamberstick forming the cover, flanked by two cylindrical apertures, each fitted with a cut glass inkwell with silver collar and cover, the stand with two pen recesses within a cast foliate cornered and gadrooned rim, raised on scroll feet, Sheffield 1812 by John Roberts & Co, weight excluding glass 618.9g, length 22.5cm.

An Elizabeth II silver mounted cut glass thistle shaped decanter, Birmingham 1970, height 34cm, together with a Haigs silver overlay clear glass dimple decanter and stopper, decorated with thistles, height 22.2cm, and a plated and spiral reeded clear glass claret jug, height 21.5cm.

A George III silver circular card salver, decorated in relief with 'C' scrolls within a gadrooned and scallop shell rim, on claw and ball feet, London 1767 by John Carter II, weight 362.6g, diameter 19.2cm.

A Victorian silver mounted glass claret jug, the domed hinged lid with knop finial above a mask spout and angular handle, surmounted by a swan, Sheffield 1873 by Fenton Brothers, height 30cm, together with a set of three Elizabeth II silver decanter labels, each relief decorated with mask and fruiting vines and engraved 'Sherry', 'Brandy' and 'Whisky', Birmingham 1954 and 1955 by Turner & Simpson Ltd, weight 50.7g.

A set of four Victorian silver Venetian pattern berry spoons, each bowl embossed with fruit, Sheffield 1897 by Walker & Hall, cased, together with a set of six silver teaspoons and pair of matching sugar tongs, Sheffield 1925, cased, and a small group of other silver and silver handled cutlery, weighable items 459.9g.

A George VI silver faceted oval teapot on an oval foot, Birmingham 1937 by William Neale & Son Ltd, height 16cm, and a silver faceted baluster hot water pot, Sheffield 1935 by Thomas Bradbury & Sons Ltd, height 20cm, total weight 988.9g.

An Edwardian silver mounted shaped rectangular photograph frame, pierced and embossed with birds amongst scrolling flowering stems, Birmingham 1901 by Henry Matthews, height 21cm, together with a group of other silver, including a rectangular cigar case, engraved with birds amongst bamboo in the Aesthetic taste, Birmingham 1880 by George Unite, height 9cm (faults), and various dressing table items, weighable items 104.9g.

A Victorian silver salver of Tottenham Hotspur related interest, the centre engraved with a band of foliate scrolls within a piecrust rim with cast scallop shells and scrolls, on three foliate flanked scallop shell scroll feet, London 1874 by Goldsmiths Alliance Ltd (Samuel Smily), the underside with engraved presentation inscription 'Robert Buckle in recognition of 64 years faithful service to the late S.W. Pedley & his family...', weight 874.8g, diameter 31.1cm. Note: Robert (Bobby) Buckle (1865-1959) was a key player in the foundation of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Bobby was a local lad who attended Tottenham Grammer School. It was with a group of friends under a lamp post on Tottenham High Road, that Spurs were founded. On becoming a founding member, he was also elected as the first ever captain, featured in the club's first known line-up and was the scorer of Tottenham's first recorded goal on 20th October 1883. He served on the committee from 1884, was honorary secretary and treasurer in 1890 and was elected to the first board of directors in 1898. The Pedley family played a significant role in the Buckle family's life, and without it the emergence of the team and club may never have happened.
