Colour frontispiece, 11 colour plates. (Light browning and spotting, some leaves uncut.) Original vellum, upper-cover and spine blocked in gilt, t.e.g. (slightly soiled).

Tipped-in colour frontispiece, decorative title, 38 tipped-in colour plates, numerous uncoloured illustrations. (Light browning, occasional spotting and minor soiling, plate facing p.38 adhered slightly diagonally.) Original cloth blocked in gilt (head and foot of spine bumped, cloth browning particularly to spine and top edge), remnants of dust-jacket. Provenance: R. James (inscription dated 'Clifton 1913' to front-free endpaper); Joanna Thompson (inscribed and dated 'Harrow 1952' to front-free endpaper).

BLACKMORE, Richard. Prince Arthur, an Heroick Poem. London: Awnsham and John Churchill, 1695. Folio (310 x 190mm.) (Lacking all leaves prior to title, light browning, occasional minor soiling or ink marginalia.) Contemporary mottled panelled-calf (rebacked, extremities bumped, joints splitting, endpapers replaced). Provenance: C.J. (inscribed 'If this poem had been executed as well as it is conceived, it might have been a tolerable performance. But the author has disgraced his own thoughts by his bombast language..' to final leaf of text).

(Light browning and spotting, library ink stamps to all plate margins.) 19th century calf, spine gilt in six compartments, lettered in the second, the others with repeat foliate decoration in gilt, gilt turn-ins, g.e. (extremities scuffed and rubbed with loss to lower-cover, joints splitting). Provenance: Henry H. Gibbs (inscription to preliminary blank); Worthing Public Library (library ink stamp to title, bookplate and stickers to endpapers).
