A fine mid to late 19th century kindjal or qama shortsword, probably from Georgia or surrounding Caucasus, with double-edged fullered blade, blade length 40cm, detailed with inlaid gold script and maker's mark, and walrus tusk-applied plate grips with profusely engraved and gold-finished foliate designs and boss-type gold damascened studs, with similarly decorated walrus tusk-applied scabbard with fine all-over engraved and gold-finished foliate designs with niello and parcel gilt edging and chape, the top with a panel of script, probably a presentation, to the back a utility knife with walrus tusk grip and decorated white metal pommel, with an associated dress knot.
