LOT 1256
An early 19th century mahogany and crossbanded longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 13-inch painted breakarch dial with rolling moon to arch above black Roman hour numerals and inner date ring, inscribed 'W. Burton S. Shields', the hood with arched pediment and gilt ball finials, glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with arched door and corner columns, on bracket feet, height 234cm, with pendulum and two weights. Note: William Burton is a recorded County Durham clockmaker working from his Fairless Street, South Shields address from 1801 until his death in 1842.
