LOT 3236
ILLUMINATED LEAF. [An early 16th century illuminated leaf from an Antiphonary, in Latin, from Italy.] Single leaf (668 x 480mm.) A large vari-coloured historiated initial of the Nativity, elaborate decorative borders, three further decorative initials. (Two small segments of the border excised and with later hand-coloured vellum replacements, some fading to the lower border, minor dust-soiling). Note: most likely a coat-of-arms was removed from the lower border and a roundel from the left border. With thanks to Peter Kidd for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
