DETMOLD, E.J. (illustrator). – Maurice MAETERLINCK. Hours of Gladness… translated by A. Teixeira Mattos. London and New York: George Allen & Co., 1912. First edition, 4to (271 x 215mm.) 20 tipped-in colour plates by Detmold. (Spotting to preliminaries and margins of most leaves.) Original cream cloth, gilt decoration to upper cover (finger-marks, some scuffing to lower cover). – And a further twelve volumes (including Charles Darwin’s ‘Journal of Researches’, 1890, 8vo, and Oliver Goldsmith’s ‘History of the Earth and Animated Nature’, 2 vols., [1853], 8vo) (13).
