DRAWING. – Johann Daniel PREISSLER. Theoretisch-Practischer Unterricht im Zeichnen. Nuremburg: Preisslers Erben and Stein, 1798-1808. Parts 1-6 (of 7). Folio (383 x 242mm.) Engraved frontispiece, title-page for each part, 100 engraved plates showing how to draw the face, the body, flowers and landscape, numerous text leaves. (Occasional light browning, spotting to the text leaves and titles, small paper repair to frontispiece, minor finger-marking.) Early 20th century boards (extremities rubbed). Note: Preissler was head of the Nuremburg Akademie and the affiliated drawing school. Part 5 has a slightly different to title to the rest: ‘Instructions to Draw Native Country Flowers in the Natural Dimension’, and Part 6 also a different title: ‘Instructions to Draw Beautiful Landscapes and Prospects’.
