LOT 3181
A late 17th century silver medal commemorating the peace with Holland concluded in London 1674, obverse with equestrian figure of William III of Orange in spirited pose with troops storming a town beyond, an orange branch above with interlaced ribbon and inscription 'Vires ultra sortem que iuventae' (his strength is beyond his years), reverse with dove in flight over a tranquil sea, an olive branch in its beak, Eimer 253, diameter 60mm, weight 84.7g (extremely fine with fine even cabinet tone and some underlying brilliance). Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
