LOT 3176
A late 17th century silver medal by George Bower commemorating Archbishop Sancroft and the Seven Bishops 1688, obverse with bust of Sancroft facing right with skull cap and clerical robe, reverse with seven medallions, each containing a bust of an imprisoned bishop, comprising William Lloyd, Francis Turner, John Lake, Henry Compton, Thomas Ken, Thomas White and Sir John Trelawney, the top with ring suspension, Eimer 288, diameter 49mm, weight 24.2g (very fine with darker old cabinet tone). Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
