A mid-17th century silver medal by J. Roettiers commemorating the Peace of Breda 1667, obverse with conjoined busts of Charles II and Catherine facing right, reverse with Britannia seated on a rock facing left, looking out to a ship at sea and a fleet beyond, edge plain, diameter 44mm, weight 43.1g (extremely fine with good even cabinet tone), with copy of original approval invoice from B.A. Seaby Ltd, dated 28th Jan 1946, Item 4, for £2-12s-6d. Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
