A mid-17th century silver medal by George Bower commemorating the marriage of Charles II and Catherine of Braganza 1662, obverse with conjoined busts facing right, reverse with Jupiter seated amongst clouds with an eagle greeting Venus and Cupid, Eimer 226, diameter 27mm, weight 6.6g (extremely fine, toned with underlying lustre), with original approval invoice from B.A. Seaby Ltd, dated 24th Jan 1946, Item 5, for £1-15s. Provenance: the collection of the late Robert Pearce of Normanton Hall, Normanton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
