LOT 1273
A George III mahogany longcase clock with thirty hour movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the 11-inch square painted dial inscribed 'S. Simms Chipping Norton', the hood with moulded pediment, glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with rectangular door, on a plain base and plinth, height 184.5cm, with pendulum and brass cased weight. Note: Samuel Simms is a recorded Oxon clockmaker working in Chipping Norton from 1790 to 1869, son of John Simms (II).
