A Chinese famille rose porcelain snuff bottle and stopper, early 20th century, of cylindrical form, painted with two red-capped cranes below a blossoming prunus, height 10.5cm, together with a group of seven other snuff bottles, comprising two inside-painted glass bottles, a blue overlay glass bottle, a carved soapstone bottle and three blue and white porcelain bottles (one repaired). Provenance: from the private collection of David Armitage, former conservator to the Department of Eastern Art at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, between 1970 and 1999.
