A large impressive Ridgway porcelain two-handled vase and cover, circa 1812, the green ground ovoid body well-painted with a panel of fruit and flowers within a gilt scroll frame, flanked by gilt tigers and foliate scrollworks, opposing a detailed gilt scene of a classical urn, flanked by griffins and elaborate foliate scrollwork, the gilded handles in the form of rams' heads, above lobed moulded detail richly gilt, the neck with gilt fluted detail, the green ground domed cover, circular foot and square base with similar gilt detail, impressed mark to base, height 62cm (some restoration to base). Provenance: from the collection of the late Graham and Rhiannon Berridge. Note: this vase is illustrated by Geoffrey Godden in his book 'Ridgway Porcelains', p.57, pl.50.
