A Japanese Satsuma earthenware reticulated jar and cover by Ryozan for the Yasuda Company, Meiji period, the cylindrical body moulded with a pair of opposing lobed circular panels, finely painted with figures in a coastal landscape and two finches flying amidst prunus branches, reserved against a pierced trellis ground, within iron red borders filled with gilt flowerheads and scrolling foliage, the domed cover painted with similar panel of figures in landscape, iron red and gilt Ryozan signature between gilt Yasuda mark and Shimazu mon to base, height 15cm (restoration).
