Original olive cloth, gilt medallion to upper cover (fading gilt to spine, small marks to upper cover). Note: includes Hardy's finest poems- those written after the death of his first wife, Emma. Provenance: M.K.T. (initials inscribed on front-free endpaper); J.R. Hilton (name inscribed on front-free endpaper). - And a further nine volumes by Thomas Hardy, mostly first editions (including a second state of 'Jude the Obscure', 1896, 8vo, and 'Life's Little Ironies', 1894, 8vo) (10).
