A Victorian mahogany regulator longcase clock, the brass eight day four pillar movement with deadbeat escapement and maintaining power, the 12½-inch silvered circular dial with outer Arabic minutes framing subsidiary seconds and hours, inscribed 'Jas Crichton Glasgow', the arched case with glazed door and sides, on a panelled base and plinth, height 183cm, with steel rod and mercury compensated pendulum, brass weight and winding key. Note: James Crichton was a goldsmith, silversmith and jeweller with premises at 84 Argyle Street, Glasgow.
