LOT 1125
A George III mahogany mantel timepiece with brass eight day single fusee movement, the backplate inscribed 'Thos Robbins Chatham', the similarly signed painted 5-inch circular convex dial with black Roman hours, the dome top case with ebony stringing to front and pierced gilt brass scale fret panels to sides, on a plinth base and brass ball feet, height 28.5cm, with pendulum. Note: Thomas Robbins is recorded in 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' by Brian Loomes as working in Chatham, Kent, circa 1740 to 1780.
