SLAVERY. - Henry BOLINGBROKE. A Voyage to the Demerary, containing a Statistical Account of the Settlements There, and of those on the Essequebo, the Berbice, and other Contiguous Rivers of Guyana. London: for Richard Phillips, [1807.] First edition, 4to (283 x 218mm.) Folding map. (Browning and two small closed tears to map, toning to margins, small paper repair to front and rear blanks, light spotting.) Contemporary paper-covered boards, later paper label to spine (rebacked, rubbing to cover edges). Note: annexed from the Dutch in 1803, this is an account of the Dutch planters, slavery, the coffee and sugar plantations, considerably more observational and anecdotal than the title suggests.
