Phyllis Dawson - a group of ten finely engraved woodcut printing blocks, all depicting her pet cats, one depicting two cats peering at fish in a pond, 19cm x 14cm. Note: Phyllis Dawson (1903-1993) was an illustrator and wood engraver. Born in London, she went on to study at Clapham School of Art with William Washington, then at Canterbury School of Art under John Austen. Many of her woodcuts depict her garden in Barham or the interior of the antique shop where she lived in Palace Street, Canterbury, as well as the local environs.
