POLAR. - Ernest H. SHACKLETON. The Heart of the Antarctic, Being the Story of the British Antarctic Expedition 1907-1909. London: Heinemann, 1909. 2 vols., first edition, 8vo (246 x 177mm.) 12 colour plates based on paintings by George Marsden with captioned tissue-guards, numerous photographic illustrations, errata leaf to volume 2. (Lacking maps and the panorama, mild toning.) Original blue cloth, upper covers blocked in silver, lettering to spines (spine seam split to volume 1, spines fading, bumped to extremities). Provenance: 'Pingo' (gift inscription on the f.f.e.p.s from 'Moko' dated Xmas 1909); A.R. Turner (bookplates on the front pastedowns). - And nineteen miscellaneous volumes (including 'Leaves From the Diary of Henry Greville', 4 vols., 1883-1905, 8vo) (21).
