HAMILTON, Patrick. The Siege of Pleasure. London: Constable, 1928. First edition, inscribed in ink by the author Patrick Hamilton on the half-title, 8vo (189 x 120mm.) (Browned to margins, a bookplate carefully removed from front and rear pastedowns.) Original black cloth (chipped to top of spine, gilt lettering faded, discoloured to tail of spine). Note: the inscription from Hamilton reads 'For Lois, with love from Disraeli'. Lois was Hamilton's first wife and 'Disraeli' the pet name he used with her. This book was written while they were courting and is dedicated to her. They married two years later, in 1930.
