A Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase by Suizan, Meiji period, the pear shaped body painted and gilt with opposing panels, one filled with a female musician and children, the other with a mountainous lakeside landscape, all reserved against a dark blue ground filled with gilt and turquoise enamelled flowerheads and scrolling foliage, the neck flanked by a pair of loop handles, gilt Shimazu mon above iron red and gilt signature seal to base, height 12.5cm (small hairline to rim).
