[Bound with:] Walter Bagehot. 'Count Your Enemies and Economise Your Expenditure', 1862, first edition, 8vo. [Bound with:] Sir John Pakington. 'State of the Navy', signed by author, first edition, 1859, 8vo, and fifteen more similar tracts relating to defence spending, some signed. Contemporary red half-morocco (rubbing to extremities). - And a related volume on 'Tracts on Military Organisation and Education'. Provenance: Robert Milnes-Crewe (bookplate to the front pastedown); The West Horsley Place Collection.
