[WESTMACOTT, Charles Molloy]. 'Bernard BLACKMANTLE'. The English Spy… an Original Work, Characteristic, Satirical, and Humorous: Being Portraits of the Illustrious, Eminent, Eccentric, and Notorious. London: Sherwood, Jones, and Co., 1825-26. First edition in book form, 2 vols., 8vo (235 x 137mm.) 71 hand-coloured aquatint plates by Robert Cruikshank, including frontispiece, 1 wood-engraved plate and numerous illustrations. (Browning and some damp-staining to several leaves in vol. 1; damp-staining to margins of vol. 2 title and several leaves of browning). Late 19th century brown half-morocco by J. Leighton, red and black lettering pieces to spine (fading and soiling to the cloth and split to upper cover of cloth of vol. 1). Provenance: Robert Milnes-Crewe (bookplate to the front pastedown); The West Horsley Place Collection.
