STRAW PAPER. - Mathias KOOPS. Historical Account of the Substances which Have Been Used to Describe Events, and to Convey Ideas from the earliest Date to the Invention of Paper. London: printed by T. Burton, 1800. First edition, signed by the author on the dedication page, 4to (289 x 168mm.) Printed 'on the first useful paper manufactured solely from straw'. (Page repair at p.25, a wrinkle to rear endpaper.) Late 19th-century blue straight-grain morocco, decorated in blind (rubbing to extremities). Provenance: Robert Milnes-Crewe (bookplate on front pastedown); The West Horsley Place Collection.
