An impressive mid-19th century French Dieppe carved ivory hexagonal wall plaque of sectional form, the central reserve finely worked in relief with a portrait of Louis XIV surrounded by three inner circular reserves and an outer border of further panels, profusely filled with allegorical scenes of angels, putti and classical figures, all bordered by applied white metal or plated mounts, width 76cm, mounted within a glazed and ebonized frame.
