[BROWN, Robert N. Rudmose.] The Voyage of the 'Scotia' Being the Record of a Voyage of Exploration in Antarctic Seas. Edinburgh and London: William Blackwood and Sons, 1906. First edition, 8vo (220 x 138mm.) Uncoloured frontispiece, 1 uncoloured map, 2 colour folding maps, numerous uncoloured illustrations. (Browning and heavy spotting.) Original pictorial cloth blocked in black and white with a seal and penguins, t.e.g. (extremities lightly bumped and scuffed, lettering to spine faded). Spence 193. Provenance: Henry Coates (ink inscription dated '1916' to half-title); The Michael Gilkes Collection. Note: possibly owned by Henry Coates of the Perthshire Society of Natural Science who met the Scotia at Millport along with Sir John Murray, Lieutenant Shackleton, Dr Sommerville, David Robertson, Mr J.G. Bartholomew, Mrs W.S. Bruce and others.
