LOT 1050
A mid-18th Century walnut longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the brass break arch dial with silvered chapter ring framing a matt centre with subsidiary seconds and date aperture, cornered with pierced and cast mask and scroll spandrels, all beneath a silvered boss to the arch inscribed 'Nat Delander near the Royal Exchange, London', flanked by dolphin and scroll spandrels, the matched walnut case with crossbanded decoration, the hood with domed caddy top and three brass ball finials above blind fretwork panels, a glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with arched door on a plain base and plinth, height approx 265cm, with pendulum, two weights, case key and winding key (alterations and restoration). Note: Nathaniel (Nat) Delander was the son of the famous clockmaker Daniel Delander. He succeeded his father, becoming Free of the Clockmakers' Company in 1721 and Master in 1747.
